Colleagues saddle up for a trip across the Channel

Evening News – Tuesday 22 July

It’s a case of au revoir to Norwich for four cyclists and ‘bonjour Paris’ as they pedal their way across the channel.

The four colleagues will take to the saddle in support of Norwich based cancer charity Big C in what promises to be the ride of their lives.

The workers, all from Insight Financial Associates, will begin on September 10.

Simon Lister, 27, Insight director, from Norwich Road in Wymondham, said: “Last year we raised £10,000 as a company but we’re quite flexible so his year we decided to support Big C.”

Karl Jermyn 35, from Willingham, added “I think when we started it would be a gentle cycle ride to Paris but it’s quite a bit more than that.”

The team are committed to raising £10,000 and are already half way there but have only given themselves four days to complete the challenge.

Trainee financial advisor Nick Welsh, 23, from Woodford Close in Mulbarton, said “none of us has done anything like this before but the training is going pretty well so far: The fact we’ve got 12 weeks helps.”

Also joining them on the ride is trainee financial advisor, Gordon Carver, 31, from York Street in Norwich.

Daniel Williams, chief executive of the Big C said: “Big C would like to thank Simon, Karl, Nick and Gordon for all their efforts.

“We will make sure that every penny raised is targeted in support of those affected by cancer in Norfolk and Waveney.”
